Interview: Meet Ice Cod; The Talent Behind The Music Bobo Eko.

The Afro/Hip hop artist Ice Cod or going by his real name Charles Dudu, you couldn’t really say has had it all his own way. Starting as a musician in 2008, the Nigeria born artist is currently working on releasing his Album. Igodomigodo.net talked to Ice Cod about his love of Music and his Career.

Below are excerpts from the interview.

1. Hello Good afternoon Ice Cod!

Ice Cod: Good afternoon Madam!

2. Can you tell us your name?

Ice Cod: Ice Cod A.K.A Charles Dudu 

3. How long have you been in the music Industry ?

Ice Cod: Since Childhood. But professionally since 2008, when i did my first single.

4. What was the Name of your first single?

Ice Cod: Raz Party

5. How did your Musical career begin?

Ice Cod: Well, i never had dreams of been a Musical artist despite the fact that i have always loved Music and singing. But when i started trying to write songs and succeeded in writing my very first four lines of a song, it was then it dawned on me that i was born to do Music.


6. Have you ever had any other career in mind before music?

Ice Cod: Yes. When i was a kid, i had always wanted to be Lawyer. But as i grew up, i began to understand what been a Lawyer entails and how risky the profession is and that got me scared (Laughs)

7. Who and What are your influences?

Ice Cod: I am just going to go straight to mentioning names. M.I , Ice Prince, 2 Pac, Drake, Kanye West, Cia, Lupe Fiasco and of course our very own 2 Baba.

8. What inspires you to make Music?

Ice Cod: My Environment and the way of life of the people.

9. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?

Ice Cod: (Laughs) I see my self been the first Nigerian to win the Grammys (Laughs). I also see my self winning Nobel Prizes for my writings.

10. How would you describe your music?

Ice Cod: My music is Unique. It is something everyone can relate with. My music is vast.

11. What religion do you practice?

Ice Cod: I am a proud Christian mehn. 

12. What do think of reality TV shows like MTN Project fame and others? 

Ice Cod: It is a very good initiative because it gives room/ opportunity for talented and upcoming artists to show case their God-given talents to the World. 

13. Have you ever been a part of one of such TV shows?

Ice Cod: Well, not really. But i have been in some Campus musical competitions sponsored by Blackberry and Samsung/ Trace TV.

14. And what was the experience like for you?

Ice Cod: I and my friends Dili and Sharon won the Blackberry Campus Music Competition then in Uniport and I was a runner up in the Samsung/Trace TV Music Competition. It was a tough experience, but i thank God for how it all ended. 

15. How are you coping with your fan base especially the Female fans?

Ice Cod: (Laughs) I still have a lot to work on and build as an upcoming artist. But i do my best to be free with my fans and try to communicate with them as possible as i can. With the female fans, it has to do with self discipline. (Laughs)

16. Do you have any upcoming gig events?

Ice Cod: Yes. My Video Premier and EP Album launch shall be coming up this year so be on the look out. (Smiles)

17. You recently featured in a song with Harry Song titled Suya. How was the experience working with Harry Song?

Ice Cod: (Smiling) Harry Song is a very talented artist and his giving me such an opportunity is a Blessing i am thankful for. It was a beautiful experience working with him.


18. Tell us about your song Bobo Eko.

Ice Cod: Bobo Eko is a song depicting the day to day struggles of man in the city of Lagos, Nigeria. Lagos life no easy (Laughter).

19. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

Ice Cod: (Laughing) The way i talk. I am not much of a talker though. (Laughs)

20. Tell us about your Relationship life. Are you single?

Ice Cod: (Laughing) I am not Married. (Laughing)

21. Do you have any messages to your fans or anyone out there with a musical ambition?

Ice Cod: To anyone with a musical ambition, don’t quit because you will definitely get criticized about your work and don’t stop trying to get better. Constant rehearsals, determination and focus is the key. And to my Wonderful fans, i say Thank you for your supports and i encourage you to continue supporting the brand Ice Cod and never stop believing in me and i promise to never stop giving you good music.
